In the company of our best naturalist guides, pick the most beautiful apples in the certified organic orchard on île Saint-Bernard! At the same time, commune with nature by taking advantage of the eight kilometers of trails at the refuge faunique Marguerite-D’Youville, a 213-hectare site that is home to remarkable flora and fauna.
Regional natural and cultural heritage, île Saint-Bernard was inhabited, between 1765 and 2011, by the Grey Nuns, a religious congregation founded by Marguerite D’Youville. These nuns established an orchard and a small dairy farm there in addition to growing wheat, barley, oats, buckwheat and vegetables. Under the adage “protecting life in all its forms”, they have made it possible to conserve an exceptional natural territory, the refuge faunique Marguerite-D’Youville, now protected in perpetuity.
